Build issue after setting up ARC, please help :)

#1

Because I was not able to see the deallocating messages, I set Objective-C ARC to yes as others have suggested. But after that, I got a build failed error when it was fine before I set it to ARC yes. The error shows this:

Apple Mach-O Linker (ld) Error
Command /Developer/usr/bin/clang failed with exit code 1

Any ideas to how i can fix this problem? much thanks!

#2

Could you paste the entire error log from the Log Navigator for us?

#3

is this it?

ld: file not found: /Developer/usr/lib/arc/libarclite_macosx.a
Command /Developer/usr/bin/clang failed with exit code 1

Ah, there’s the problem.

Unfortunately, ARC isn’t fully supported on Mac OS X 10.6.

One workaround would be to set up your project as an iOS Empty Application instead of a Cocoa Application, and then empty out the main.m file, replacing its contents with the code you’re working on.

Thanks, will give that a shot.

*Update. This worked for those who are still trying to figure out the problem with seeing dealloc messages.
