congratulateStudent Function - use of *

#1

I am enjoying this book immensely. It is great. I just have one question for now. On page 28 when you create the congratulateStudent function, why do the char values have an asterisk in front of them? Are they pointers?

Also, I thought that char were single character objects like ‘a’ or ‘b’

Insights appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, they are pointers, but I’m not really ready to talk about that at this point. If you want to skip ahead, look at the chapter on C Strings. (I’m glad you are enjoying the book!)

Thanks Aaron. At least it is nice to know what they are. I have a basic concept of what they are and look forward to learning more.
