Exception - loaded ...nib but the view outlet was not set

#1

This wasted an hour or so of my time.
Page 107, Figure 5.5 Finished connections, stated there should be 5 connections.
However, after going through the same steps several times (including deleting and re-adding those UI controls), I still see only 4 connections, the “view — View” connection is always missing. (book states “The view connection was established by the template.”) But this was not the case.
Running the app will throw exception “loaded … nib but the view outlet was not set”.
I found the link below that managed to solve my problem.
In summary, I have to manually set the link between view and View as mention in this link:

Make sure you pick the correct template.

What is the correct template? How do I know?

But meanwhile my problem is solved by the link quoted above. Thanks to the sender.
I tried a lot of dragging in vain, not getting the idea to drag the line directly to the View icon below Objects.

I guess what Joe is saying, is make sure you pick the correct template at the start of Chapter 4.

This should have been a Single View Application, not an Empty Application. If you had chosen Empty Application, and added the view later you would need to make sure that you hooked up the correct class for the new view.

Great thanks to you. Now I can imagine where to have a look.
