Killing an app in the iOS simulator

How do you kill an app in the simulator? I am at the top of page 291 where it says “exit the application, and then kill it from the dock”. I assume “exit” means to hit the home button at the bottom. But I cannot find a way to kill it from the dock. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double top the home button and a view will slide up showing you the apps currently in memory / in background / running. click and hold one of the apps till it wiggles and you see an x in the upper left corner of the icon. Once you see that you can click the x, and that will remove it from the dock.

Cool, thank you very much!

it was working smooth on my iPad Pro when it was running on ios 10 however as I have updated to ios 11.3 whenever now I am opening the app it only loads a blank screen on the start up and crashes after a while automatically. How do I fix it?
