Xcode keeps crashing when I click BNRQuizViewController.xib

Running OS X 10.10.5 and Xcode 5.0.2, I’m getting frustrated because I can’t even do this task which seems to be pretty simple.
I’ve tried work arounds from stack overflow answers, like changing auto layout to say “NO” and changing version to 2.0 in the source code, but the interface builder is not opening.

What can I do?

Can you upgrade to the latest and greatest of both OS X and Xcode?

If you can: But beware, upgrading to the latest version of OS X can make your machine run real slow if your hardware is not relatively new.

I can upgrade, but I wanted to run Xcode 5.0.2 since I think it would be easier to follow the book. I just have no clue as to why this error is happening.

It really makes no difference from what i can tell running latest xcode/osx.

How did you create that xib file?

I created the file as the book described. Clicked File -> New -> File -> Objective C class

This is pretty strange. Can you do anything with Xcode at all?

Disconnect your computer from the Internet and Try the following:

  1. Create an OS X command line tool and run it.
  2. Repeat what you were doing before, but in a new iOS project; and

What do you see?

I downloaded Xcode 5.1.1 and I can now click the .xib file and view the interface builder without Xcode crashing.
