I finished the second activity, but I am having trouble figuring out a good source for the ADB, Can you recommend a site? Everything looks like a virus waiting to happen,

I am banging my head against the wall.
SDK tools, SDK platform tools (which is supplosed to include ADB) and Google USB driver installed.
That seems to be everything I need.
I made sure debugging is operational on my htc one.
I plug it into the windows computer, turned on, and nothing happens.
The android monitor doesn’t recognize it, and it isn’t an option when the emulator window pops up;
The Run/Debug config is correct per specs.
What am I missing? HELP!
