Refresh Problem?

Android Programming (3rd Edition) 29. Broadcast Intents

The first paragraph of Chap 29 implies that the screen images should automatically refresh when the app sense a change in the data (PollService.onHandleIntent, new resultId). My screen doesn’t refresh. Did I miss something?
