It seems the chapters on Location, Maps, and Material Design have been removed, thus removing the Locatr app from the book. This means, the following functionality has been removed from the book:
- How to query the user’s current location
- How to request dangerous permission at runtime
- How to create a MapView and place markers on the map
The book makes a few references to requesting permission at runtime (Ch. 15 challenge & Ch. 28 protection levels), but no longer has the associated example code of how to do it. The removal of the Location & Maps (and therefore runtime permissions) seems like an overall loss.
