I finally published my first app on the google playstore. It feels exciting. I just wanted to thank @cstewart, the rest of the authors and the rest of you folks in this forum. Your input has been invaluable.

It is however true that to learn android and get good at it. You have to write android apps, understing what you are writing and get off the beaten path by doing lots of projects and personal challenges.
