Without reading ahead, is there any reason not to use BBEdit instead of Atom and Terminal. I’m about the middle of otter gram. With BBEdit I can preview in Chrome with a mouse click.
Thanks,
Gary
Great question!
First off, you should definitely use whichever editor you’re most comfortable with.
But, the main reason we recommend Atom is that it runs on Mac, Linux, and Windows. We wanted to be able to give guidance on editor shortcuts and useful plugins without requiring readers to be on a specific platform. (As I understand it, BBEdit is Mac-only.)
Also, the reason for using the Terminal is that nearly all of the modern front-end tooling is command-line based. Later in the book, you’ll be using some of these as core parts of your development workflow.
